Where’s my stimulus payment?

May 11th, 2008 by Gadgetboy | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Wondering when your stimulus payment will arrive? According to the IRS website, millions of economic stimulus payments will be sent out starting May 2 until July 11, but if you can’t wait to find out when yours will be in the mail then head over to Where’s My Stimulus Payment.

The Consumerist points us to this IRS tool that gives you a better idea of when to expect a check in the mail. The tool doesn’t provide you with specifics until a week before the payment is scheduled to be issued. However, it does give you an idea of when to expect the payment based on the last two numbers of your social security number.

When you arrive on the site, you’ll have to enter your social security number, filing status, and the total number of exemptions on your 2007 tax return, so make sure you’re on a secure computer before doing so.

It’s not the greatest of tools, but it sure beats checking the mail everyday for a check that may not be there until July. The government, in general, has a reputation for being behind the times when it comes to things like these, so I’m glad the IRS is at least trying to provide services like this one to the public because as you know, people don’t like to waiting for their money.

Newman M8000 sports Gigantic Storage Space

May 11th, 2008 by Gadgetboy | 2 Comments | Filed in Electronics, Mobile gadgets, Tech Companies

Newman M8000 sports Gigantic Storage Space

The Newman M8000 looks pretty decent at first glance, but wait till you hear that it comes with a 250GB hard drive inside! That’s a whole lot of space to carry all your entertainment files, and chances are it will be a long time before you exhaust the amount of space inside. Of course, if you’re on a tight budget, there are always different capacities to choose from such as the 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB models. I wonder if any enterprising person will purchase the 80GB M8000 and dissect it, replacing it with a 250GB or even 320GB hard drive instead. Features of the Newman M8000 include :-

* 4″ TFT display at 320 x 240 resolution
* TV out
* Supports MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 formats
* 1.3 megapixel camera
* SD memory card slot
* Game emulation
* PVR functionality

Prices start from $299 upwards.

May 11th, 2008 by Gadgetboy | No Comments | Filed in Electronics, Mobile Phones, Mobile gadgets, Service Providers

Samsung announced the SCH-u940 Glyde, a new sideways slider for Verizon Wireless that has a touch screen user interface on the front. The Glyde is a CDMA version of the F700. Its UI is based on Samsung’s Croix interface, but has been heavily modified for Verizon. It features haptics feedback and measures 240 x 440 pixels. The Glyde also slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, a microSD slot for storing media (supports up to 8GB), and stereo Bluetooth. The Glyde has EVDO data, a full HTML browser, and supports Verizon’s Get It Now and V Cast services. The Glyde will cost $250 after rebates with a new two-year agreement

More Sony Ericsson BeiBei leaked photos

May 11th, 2008 by Gadgetboy | No Comments | Filed in Electronics, Mobile Phones, Mobile gadgets

Sony Ericsson BeiBei

Almost a month ago we posted one of the first Sony Ericsson BeiBei leaked photos . As far as we know, the upcoming device will run the latest version of UIQ (3.3 ) on top of Symbian OS, and will also boast such things as some camera (we’re not sure about the megapixel count), Wifi and Bluetooth. We would certainly like to see HSDPA on the list too, but we’re not sure about that one either.

It’s likely the Swedish-Japanese handset maker won’t market the BeiBei as a smartphone — rather, they’ll probably sell it to all round feature phone users, which want an extra function or two from time to time. They’re already using the same/similar concept with the G700 and G900 models. In that sense, Sony Ericsson may have a winner with the BeiBei.

What follows are several photos of the upcoming device, as well as four screenshots. Enjoy!

Head over to intomobile.com for the complete coverage on this phone

RemoteNote allows users to view and edit their iPhone notes from a web browser

May 11th, 2008 by Gadgetboy | 1 Comment | Filed in Electronics, Mobile Phones, Mobile gadgets

If you don’t own a Mac, but always wanted to be able to manage your iPhone Notes from a PC, you obviously couldn’t do it. Both Megaphone(former iPhoneDrive) and iphone notes are Mac only apps. That has just changed…

Thanks to the new native app called Remote note - all users, no matter which OS they’re running on their desktop computer, can view and edit notes on their iPhone. The application relies on the WiFi hotspot and allows you to remotely connect to your iPhone and change notes from a web browser. All web browsers are supported — including Safari, IE, Firefox and Opera — but it is required, though, that you have Adobe Flash Player installed. In addition, your iPhone needs to be jailbroken as well as Jiggy Runtime installed. Both RemoteNote and Jiggy Runtime are available from Installer.app.
