  • Nimbuzz Free Calls, Chat, Messaging and more on your iPhone
By Gadgetboy on November 29th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Just like almost any other  mobile applications/ service developer/provider these days, Nimbuzz is going iPhone. The native app is already available through AppStore and allows users to call, chat and message with their friends on all major IM communities and social networks — including Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Facebook, MySpace, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, and more.

And while Fring can already do pretty much the same job, what’s interesting with Nimbuzz’s solution is that it supports chat in the landscape mode, as well as the regional social network support

  • Finally linux is ported to iPhone sort off
By Gadgetboy on November 29th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Linux 2.6 kernel has been ported to Apple’s iPhone platform, with support for the first and second generation iPhones as well as the first generation iPod touch. This is a rough first draft of the port, and many drivers are still missing, but it’s enough that a real alternative operating system is running on the iPhone.

iPhone Linux Demonstration Video from planetbeing on Vimeo .

A short narrated video demonstrating iPhone Linux, a port of the Linux operating system to the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and first-generation iPod touch platforms. This video was created with Cycorder, a video recorder app for the iPhone, with apologies for the blurriness.

  • iGolf for iPhone : Game of the day
By Gadgetboy on November 28th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

SGN (social gaming Network ) app in question is called iGolf and it has some very neat features. iGolf simulates a driving range experience, players swing with their iPhone as they would do with a real club, then look to the screen to see their shot sail over a driving range, ultimately revealing the distance of the drive. Players literally improve their golf swing, anytime and anywhere and by saving their high scores they can challenge friends to out-drive them.

iGolf, is an envelope-pushing application, the iPhone’s accelerometer detects the mechanics of a golf swing to determine the quality and distance of each drive. At the bottom of a swing, the phone vibrates and replicates the familiar “thwack” sound of a golf ball being struck!

A cool side-note of this app is the fact that is has risen to the number 1 spot of free app’s in the App Store in just a day.

  • LifeInPocket Rolls Out BlackBerry Support - Free Download
By Gadgetboy on November 26th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

The Free App and Personalized Services That Give Cell Phones iPhone Features Plus GPS, Navigation, Location Messaging and More Now Work with RIM Devices

Building on the success in the one-billion-units-per-year Java phone market, RoadComm, Inc. today made available its LifeInPocket mobile suite to RIM’s BlackBerry smart phones.

Free of charge, LifeInPocket will upgrade BlackBerries with a greater array of functionality than the iPhone. Those features include GPS, navigation, location messaging, friends/family locator, and much more.

With little or no learning curve, no hardware or software to buy, and no binding contracts, LifeInPocket effectively transcends the iPhone.

LifeInPocket offers one of the most advanced turn-by-turn navigation prompts with voice guidance. That modality allows for far-safer, hands-free navigation. Utilizing synced address book and its unique online trip planning tool, LifeInPocket Navigation virtually eliminated the need for typing on tiny keyboards and surpassed those expensive phone navigation services and personal navigation devices available today.

Much more powerful than SMS, parents/friends will find great use in LifeInPocket’s Cross-Platform and Cross-Network instant location messaging, family/friends locator and a host of related peace-of-mind and social functions using phones or PCs.

Unlike iPhone’s limited sync capability, LifeInPocket enables address book sync/import/export with Yahoo!, Gmail, MSN, Hotmail, Outlook Express, Palm Desktop, etc. Users can one-click on those synced contacts to "call," to "mail" and to "navigate" via their phones.

Besides maps, weather, PIM, traffic report, parking, roadside assistance and WiFi hotspots, LifeInPocket offers a GPS/address-based directory with more than 15 million points of interest (POIs). Not only with the most comprehensive POIs database, LifeInPocket users can view other visitors’ reviews and ratings as recent as minutes ago before venturing to unfamiliar restaurants, car repair shops, towing services or other businesses.

The only mobile application/services platform of its kind, LifeInPocket symbolizes the next generation of application and services that offer the power of top-of-the-line smart phones to regular cell phones, and make smart phones smarter.

  • Ace Tennis - Game of the day for iPhone
By Gadgetboy on November 26th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Ace Tennis Online allows you to play a game of virtual tennis against the computer or real live opponents over the internet. The game takes advantage of the accelerometer and the touch features of both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

If you’re not familiar with the controls, there’s a tutorial mode that will teach you everything you need to know. To move, touch and hold where on the screen you want to move to. To swing, get your character over to the ball before it’s past and it will automatically hit. When it comes to hitting the ball, you can actually do quite a bit using the accelerometer. Tilting the iPhone will help you aim the ball toward that respective side. If you tilt it forward you’ll hit a short ball and back will hit a long ball.

The online interface of this app is pretty intense as well. There’s the ability to create a full profile with a picture and everything. When you’re in the game, you can even chat with your opponent directly. Just keep in mind that chatting doesn’t pause the game so don’t expect any sort of special treatment when you start typing away.

This game is pretty great overall. Tennis might not be the most riveting game, but the arrival of another online multiplayer game to the iPhone and iPod Touch lineup is something that definitely makes this game worth checking out. If you enjoy head to head multiplayer gaming or tennis games, then definitely check this app out.

Right now you can get the game for .99 cents from the App store Link Click here to purchase

There is no guarantee how long this discount will be available. It could be a temporary sale, or a permanent price deduction. If you’re interested, get it while the price is low.

  • YouTube is now widescreen
By Gadgetboy on November 25th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

YouTube a few minutes ago announced that they’re officially changing the size and aspect ratio of the standard video player on the site.

We’re expanding the width of the page to 960 pixels to better reflect the quality of the videos you create and the screens that you use to watch them. This new, wider player is in a widescreen aspect ratio which we hope will provide you with a cleaner, more powerful viewing experience. And don’t worry, your 4:3 aspect ratio videos will play just fine in this new player.
