Tmobile suspends sales on Nokia 5610 express music phoneBy Gadgetboy on November 9th, 2008 | No Comments
According to a T-Mobile spokesperson, T-Mobile is suspending the sale of the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic handset and recalling the entire 5610 inventory, including floor demos and literature, from all stores and warehouses. The issue appears to be a manufacturing problem that affects the display. Nokia has now fixed the error in the current crop of 5610s but the T-Mobile’s supply were all manufactured prior to the fix and still have the design flaw. Unfortunately, at this point, there is no word as to whether the 5610 will return to T-Mobile’s lineup. Anyone whose phone experiences any probl... -
X-plore v1.30 for S60 is released still the best file managerBy Gadgetboy on November 8th, 2008 | No Comments
One of the best file manager apps for S60 devices has been updated. X-plore v1.30 brings several new enhancements to the table, including an improved (or that’s different) user interface, and a theme support. Naturally, several issues from the previous version were also fixed. Let’s first discuss the user interface. As you can see from the image above, the folks behind X-plore (LCG dev team) don’t like the standard S60 UI’s look and feel, hence they went one step forward to make use of the whole screen. Fonts are small, but they are quite readable, hence there’s more information dis... -
iPhone now #2 smartphone marketBy Gadgetboy on November 7th, 2008 | No Comments
The results are in and news now hitting the smartphone world is that Nokia is slipping down from the peak of the mountain while Apple and RIM work their way to the top. With only the iPhone and iPhone 3G, Apple has managed to step over RIM’s shoulders to take the number two spot in the smartphone world with 17.3% of the market share. RIM, however, isn’t too far behind with 15.2% and climbing with anticipation of the Storm’s release mounting. Nokia, meanwhile, can’t help but sit and watch as it sees its market share drop to 38.9% from 51.4% the year before. Apple is undoubtedly snatc... -
Nokia E71, N82 Win Awards by Wired MagazineBy Gadgetboy on November 4th, 2008 | No Comments
Two Nokia Symbian S60 smartphones were honered by Wired Magazine’s test issue. The first of the two is the Nokia E71, which I’m currently testing and honestly I’m not surprised to see it praised by Wired. The device nabbed the “Test Best Cell Phone” title, scoring nine out of 10, in the November issue, which is on newsstands now. On the other end, Nokia N82 was awarded the “Test Best Camera Phone” accolade. Again, there’s nothing surprising here as we know the N82 packs a 5 megapixel camera with Xenon flash. source: intomobile.com Share and Enjoy: ... -
Breaking News: Spy shots of Nokia E63By Gadgetboy on October 22nd, 2008 | No Comments
As part of the whole discussion on the leaked Nokia promotional video about a month ago, the existence of the mysterious Eseries phone, the E63, has come to light. Much of the phone still remains a mystery but we do have some new spy shots to confirm its existence and few leaked details on the handset itself courtesy of the Telefon-Tredd.de forums. This is all rumor so take it with a healthy grain of salt. The Nokia E63 is purported to come in three variants: the E63-1: for Europe, the E63-2: without a camera and more memory (?), and E63-3: for the Americas. According to a user agent profi... -

Qik comes to Nokia TubeBy Gadgetboy on October 3rd, 2008 | No Comments
Qik has announced that its video streaming software will come pre-installed on Nokia’s just-launched5800 XpressMusic touchscreen phone - the first deal of its kind for the still-young startup. The deal marks a big win for Qik, as it will expose the company to a wide audience while removing its biggest barrier to entry (many mobile phone users are reluctant to download and install new software). Qik allows users to stream live video recordings directly from their phones over Wi-Fi or high-speed data networks, effectively turning the phone into a "mobile television studio". The...
